As I wrote a couple of days ago, and actually I was discussing the same with one a very experienced and learned man.  But he puts a different dimension in this thought. Do we think the documents are very much important financially? If so then the recommended choice is DB not the file system. Although he agrees that even if access to the spool document is possible but because of its cryptic nature it can not be printed or read out.  But the file is accessible to the Basis system administrator, who has the access to the document may accidentally delete it.

Another one responded saying rather duplicating the bookish language saying that backup of the spool will be an additional headache then…Otherwise it automatically gets backed up along with the database backup itself.

Hmm…I need to think more on this……
